A free 15-minute consultation is a brief introductory session designed to help you and the therapist determine if you're a good fit for each other. During this consultation, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss your primary concerns, what you hope to gain from therapy and ask any questions you may have.
This consultation is an ideal opportunity to see if you feel comfortable and confident working with the therapist before committing to regular sessions.

In a therapy session, you can expect an environment where you are an active participant in your healing journey. Unlike traditional therapy where the therapist leads the conversation, collaborative therapy encourages you to take an equal role in shaping the session.
Here's what you can anticipate during our time together:
Building a Strong Therapeutic Alliance: Collaborative therapy prioritizes the therapeutic relationship between therapist and client. We will work together to establish trust, rapport, and a sense of mutual respect, creating a safe space for exploration, healing and growth.
Co-Creation of Goals: Together we will identify specific goals for therapy. These goals are based on your unique needs and aspirations, and they serve as a roadmap for your therapeutic journey.
Shared Decision-Making: I will work with you to make decisions about the direction of therapy, the techniques used, and any changes to your treatment plan. Your preferences, values, and comfort level are always respected. If you are interested in any specific modality, we can can discuss as part of the collaborative process.
Feedback and Reflection: Throughout the session, I may offer reflections and insights based on what you share. I will also invite feedback from you to ensure that the therapy process feels supportive and productive.
Collaborative Problem-Solving: Together, we will explore challenges, identify patterns, and develop strategies to overcome obstacles. You'll be empowered to apply these strategies in your daily life outside of therapy sessions.

I am an out-of-network provider. This means that I can not submit in-network insurance claims for you. However, you may be able to receive some reimbursement if your policy has out-of-network mental health benefits.
I have partnered with Mentaya to help clients use their out-of-network benefits to save money on therapy. Use this tool below to see if you qualify for reimbursement for my services: https://mentaya.com/checkbenefits/THERESILIENTBLOOM
I can also provide you a billing statement, called a "superbill", each month for you to submit for reimbursement from your insurance provider. I always recommend calling your insurance company to find out what your benefits are, and if you are eligible for out-of-network reimbursement.
Helpful questions to ask your insurance provider:
Do I have mental health insurance benefits?
What is my deductible and has it been met?
How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
Am I eligible for out-of-network reimbursement and if so, what is the reimbursement rate?
You may also be eligible for reimbursement through a Flexible Spending or Health Savings Account.

To be in-network, insurance would require that all counseling services be “medically necessary”. This means I would have to provide you a psychiatric diagnosis in order for insurance to cover your therapy sessions. Insurance companies also dictate how many sessions you are allowed to receive and what the length of those sessions will be. I believe that you and I should be in charge of what happens in our work together, not the insurance company. Insurance companies also may require access to your mental health records, such as assessments, progress notes and treatment history for services to be covered.
When you work with an out-of network provider, you may seek therapy for any reason you choose, not only for something the insurance company deems “medically necessary”. People use therapy for all kinds of reasons, including personal growth, coping with stress, relational support and life transitions, which may not meet the criteria for a diagnosable mental health condition.
Through the collaborative therapy process, you and I will have the flexibility to tailor our sessions to best meet your needs.

An out-of-network provider does not submit in-network claims directly to your insurance for reimbursement. This means that you will be responsible for the full cost of each session. It is also possible that session fees will not count towards your healthcare deductible. This can be cost prohibitive for some individuals.

This will be discussed as part of the collaborative therapy process.
In the beginning, as we get know one another and establish our goals for therapy, the consistency of weekly sessions can be a valuable tool as we build a solid therapeutic relationship. Some peope chose to continue weekly sessions as they progress because they value the predictability and consistent support. Others may chose to spread out sessions as they become more confident in their healing journey.
The wonderful thing about being an out-of-network provider is we get to decide what feels right and works best for you!

This will be something we decide as part of the collaborative therapy process. Most people will opt for 45-60 minute sessions. This length of time feels like the “sweet spot” for most people. I typically reserve 90 minute sessions for intake/first sessions as we often need the additional time. However, you can always request a additional time if you feel you need a longer session. Shorter, 30 minute sessions, are typically best for established clients who prefer consistent but briefer sessions as they progress through their journey. Shorter sessions can also be ideal for busy people who don’t want to skip a session but can’t commit to a longer session some weeks.

I am currently accepting new clients for virtual and in-person appointments.
Virtual therapy is just like in person therapy, but is provided via computer, smartphone or tablet. Virtual counseling services are held through a HIPAA compliant, secure video platform. Virtual therapy provides the advantage of being able to access professional support from anywhere that feels most comfortable to you. With the added benefits of no travel time and flexible scheduling, virtual therapy has become a preferred method of meeting for many people.
In person sessions are offered in the late afternoons/evenings. I am conveniently located in Fort Mill, SC off of interstate 77 in Baxter Village.

If you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment, please give me at least 24 hours notice. Late cancels between 12-24 hours will be charged the session fee at 50% of the published rate. Anything less and no shows will be charged the full session fee.
I also know that life happens. I do make exceptions to this policy in the case of an emergency or sudden illness that could not reasonably be predicted within the cancellation window.
